I guess the big question here is what changed? What were the changes you did? What happened? What did you decide as a school, as a department to change? Talk to us about that.

Michelle ScottGUEST
Yes, so what we decided to do is move towards a more continuous approach to our assessment, where evidence of learning was gathered over time in the form of a portfolio of evidence, which is our progressive assessment.

Michelle ScottGUEST
So rather than relying heavily on just two pieces of assessments with high pressure moments, we now... give students the opportunity and multiple opportunities to demonstrate their learning across different contexts and in different ways.

Michelle ScottGUEST
We no longer separate the skills into reading and listening for one term and then speaking and writing in another.

Michelle ScottGUEST
And as Janet has said, the teacher has the freedom to create the conditions around that in terms of what it looks like.

So just talk to us a little bit about leading that change across the department, Michelle, and what kind of challenges you encountered.
