What should someone do? What questions should they even ask themselves to help them to kind of to get a bit of clarity through a bit of reflection to understand, you know, what other possibilities are out there and how to move forward? Like what process would you lead people through?
13:08
For sure.
13:09
I mean, the first thing I'll mention is is acknowledge the emotion that you're feeling, because I've seen this where, you know, like, for example, somebody loses their job or they're feeling unsettled at work and they race into like applying for jobs and things like that.
13:27
We'll talk about that, how that's not a good strategy.
13:30
But just acknowledge how you're feeling.
13:33
So if you've lost your job, acknowledge the grief that comes with that loss.
13:37
I mean, job loss is a loss.

29:02
What next?
13:24
So we're a little bit behind, but in terms of where we could be, but yeah, What do we do as helpers for other people's kids, we'll call it, to find that job? What do we do?
13:40
Yeah.
13:41
I mean, like, and there's, there's so much that goes into figuring out what you want to do as a next step.
13:48
Um, because yeah, you're right.
13:50
You're, you're going to be surrounded by the job fairs and the temptation is, okay, I'm just going to, you know, update my resume and then I'm just going to start talking to pretty well everybody.
14:03
And yeah, that's good to do research.
14:05
That's true.

26 MINS LATER

39:39
What would you say your top three are in terms of things for people to be ready for that search?
7:54
So I'm curious how that seed was planted for you from your friend.
7:59
And it's interesting because my friend Val, who planted the seed, this is somebody I've known for over 30 years, actually.
8:06
She's a coach herself.
8:08
So we, you'll love this, Adam.
8:10
We were at, this is years ago, I was still employed by this large national cancer organization and loving my job at the time.
8:18
We had attended a meditation workshop together and we were on a break and it was just so random.
8:25
It just completely came out of the blue.

22:17
What does that process look like from kind of grieving the loss, moving through that, through this reflection into actually going out and with clarity going after the next opportunity?
AJHOST
53:20
A resume
53:20
... a lot of different things, right? But you do want each of those bullets on your resume and your LinkedIn profile to communicate what you did as a start, but how did you do it? The depth and complexity behind what it is that you did carries a lot of weight as well.
53:35
And then what are those results and outcomes? You know, if, if you've, you know, developed a new process that has lived on for five years and has saved people time and money, then talk about, you know, what kind of time and money did you save, and how did you actually get to that? And that depth is really going to speak to recruiters and hiring managers.
53:54
It's also the front-end work for in an interview because in an interview, you know, the interviewers in the panel, they just don't wanna know, like, a list of things that you did off your job description.
54:06
They want to know, well, what was the value that you offered? What was that impact? Because if you offered value in your past roles, chances are you'll be able to offer that value to them, and they need to have a really good sense, especially in that interview, that you are going to be able to bring the value that they're looking for.
54:23
You are going to be able to solve the challenges and the problems that they need help with.
54:29
And so talk about those specifics.

... and now those coattails have disappeared.
