I started in human resources as a generalist.

Uh, I specialized in employment, employee relations, and training and development.

But when I had my first child, I made the decision to start my own consulting firm because I wanted more work-life balance, and I was willing to bet on myself.

So, you know, what I didn't know, though, was that I was really signing up for one of the greatest leadership lessons out there, because that firm that I started morphed dramatically over the years.
