What are some of the battles that you had to walk through personally that really shaped the way you see marriage and divorce and the resilience? Like what's a bit of your story and what's brought you here?
3:32
You know, my story started in second grade when my mother and my father got divorced.
3:41
And my mother took me by the chin and looked at me and said, Michelle, you get an education and you don't depend on a man for anything.
3:50
And that really started me on the path to where I am today.
3:56
That and my father, who was a surgeon, successful surgeon, told me if I ever became a lawyer, he would disown me.
4:03
And I was like, done.
4:07
And so that, I joke about that a little bit, but it's really true.

Number one, is that true? And then number two, why? Why is that the case if it is true? So I'm going to say
25:31
Right.
25:31
Um, but I, I mean, I, I talk about one, um, back when I was a judge, this would've been two thousand eleven.
25:39
I had an individual who was seeking a protective order.
25:41
She's now deceased 'cause her husband walked through her protective order and killed her.
25:45
And he found her outside of her salon first thing in the morning and stabbed her twenty-eight times and killed her and walked right through that protective order.
25:53
And so what we talk about a lot, because I think there's a difference between, like, intimate partner stalking and then, like, the stalking that we see with complete and absolute strangers.
26:03
Like, you know, it's always the Hollywood ones you hear the most stories about.
