Next question is, what do you see as the biggest state level issue facing Newtown right now? And what specifically can a state rep do about it?

Property taxes.

And that's one of the things that I hear about more than anything at the doors is property taxes and property.

It is because of the, well, in large part, it's because of inflation, but also because of the education funding that does not come back from Hartford that is part of Hartford's obligation, the state's obligation.

to help fund our public education in schools.

And so that has remained flat for about 13 years, at least the per pupil expenditure that they send back to the towns.

And so when they don't increase that, it's on the backs of our new town residents' property taxes to pay that difference between what inflation is causing and what the state is actually putting in.
