17:10
So after 25 years, why did you decide to retire from Chicago Police Department?
17:15
I wasn't necessarily ready to leave, but I started realizing how much of my daughter's life I was missing.
17:23
And it is a thankless job.
17:25
I worked in one of the busiest areas in the city.
17:27
And every six weeks, we call it up week because you're on call for murders.
17:30
All of the murders happen at three o'clock in the morning.
17:32
That's just the way it happens.

6 MINS LATER

23:22
When did you decide to write that and why did you want to write a book?
14:12
Something that's not real funny though, but you talk about in your book is when you were 11 years old, you had a traumatic event as a child there in Chicago, right?
14:20
I did.
14:21
And it's funny because I didn't talk about this.
14:23
Unfortunately, my mom has passed away now and I never told her actually what happened.
14:29
She knew about part of the event because she called the police.
14:31
But when I was 11 years old, I came home from gymnastics and my mom wanted me to go to the grocery store, which was a common thing.
14:37
I would always run out to the store to get snacks, dinner, whatever.

13 MINS LATER

27:19
How long did it take you to get to where you're actually investigating homicides?
6:02
And it had something to do with the fact that he didn't have his shoes on at the time? Is that, is that what it was?
6:06
Yeah.
6:07
So this, uh, young lady was, uh, coming home.
6:09
It was right around Christmas time, and unfortunately she encountered this person who later told us, this offender said that he was looking for a victim.
6:18
So what he was doing is he was looking for what he would, you know, perceive as someone w- weak that he could overpower.
6:25
So he did see this girl walking down the street, and he made a decision.
6:28
You know, he zoomed in on her, and he said, "Okay, if this girl turns right down the alley, she's gonna be my victim." And these are hers word- his words, not mine.

13 MINS LATER

19:24
Uh, is there, in your experience, is there a correlation between, like, say, a robbery and a rape? Is it, is it just, is it just a turn of the page?
