Are there specific things that you can tell us that can really help us understand what that experience was like?

It's a little bit difficult, but I w- I will say that when you're growing up, there's just a certain rhythm to life and to family that is so special.

Like, you know that every December 24th, like, you're going to mass and you're watching ceremonial dances, and you know which ones to expect.

And there's 19 Pueblos in New Mexico, and every single one of them has a patron saint, which has a feast day that celebrates that patron saint, and ours is May 1st.

And, like, it is the biggest day of the year on the Pueblo.

It is the one that requires the most preparation.

Like, I associate it with my grandma making potato salad and green chili and red chili because it's a day where every single person from every walk of life is welcome to come to the Pueblo to see the traditional ceremonial dances and to just participate in the day.
