So but anyway, yeah, what else?
24:33
Um, the order I do everything in the night before.
24:36
So when we get the race packs, same sticker goes on first, then the next one.
24:42
And then I think the one that's the real kicker, the hardest one to keep track of, is for our numbers on the run, we have to put them on a little elastic belt, and the toggles that come off, the left one has to stay on the left, and the right one has to stay on the right.
25:00
So it's always making sure both of them are separated.
28:40
Okay.
28:40
Especially the pre-race ones.
28:43
Um, yeah, the confidence is down.
0:00
Don't settle for being a creature.
0:04
Be self-defining.
0:07
Be your own god.
0:11
And that, friends, is where our culture has got to.
0:17
There is no God, so be your own maker.
0:22
Be whoever you want to be.

The human body contains a sufficient amount of fat to make seven cakes of soap, enough iron to make a medium-sized nail, a sufficient amount of phosphorus to equip two thousand match heads, enough sulfur to rid oneself of one's fleas.
15:30
But anyway, yeah.
15:31
What else? The order I do everything in the night before.
15:35
So when we get the race packs, same sticker goes on first, then the next one.

And then I think the one that's the real kicker, the hardest one to keep track of is for our numbers on the run, we have to put them on a little elastic belt.
15:51
and the toggles that come off the left one has to stay on the left and the right one has to stay on the right so it's always making sure both of them are separated so i know which one's which right and then race morning it's always exact same songs for the entirety of warmups, waking up, sometimes in the shower if I bring my speaker.
16:20
Always the same? Exact same songs.
16:23
And it's always been the exact same songs? You don't add to it? No.
17:45
Mm-hmm.

For it is only this wonderful fear of God that can steer us wisely through life.
0:18
It is this, the fear of God, not IQ, that is the beginning of wisdom.
0:25
And therefore, says Psalm 115 verse 13, he will bless those who fear the Lord, both the small and the great.
0:37
For it is not talent that God blesses so much as the fear of God.

Let's join Dr. Reeves now.
1:25
Now, I think, is a good time for you to ask yourself what things you fear.
1:35
Because our fears are highly revealing.

This right fear of God, it is not the gloomy flip side to joy in God.
0:17
It is a way of speaking about the sheer intensity of the saint's happiness in God.
0:27
Our joy in God at its purest is a trembling and wonder-filled, yes, fearful joy, for the object of our joy is so fearfully wonderful.
1:05
Well, I'm glad you're with us today for Renewing Your Mind as Dr. Michael Reeves delves deeper into the Bible's description of a godly fear of the Lord.
1:17
C.I. Scofield once called the fear of God a phrase of Old Testament piety, and so it was.
1:29
However, the fear of God is not a phrase of Old Testament piety only, for the fear of God is quite explicitly a blessing of the new covenant.
1:44
So speaking of the new covenant, the Lord promised through Jeremiah, Jeremiah chapter thirty-two from verse thirty-eight to forty.

When people become simply afraid of God, they'll never entrust themselves to Him.
0:07
They must turn elsewhere for their security.
0:12
People with this sinful fear of God will not trust in Christ for their salvation.
0:18
They'll look elsewhere.

0:43
If we believe the lie that we're to be afraid of God, we'll actually run from Him, and as you'll hear today, just because people run from God doesn't necessarily mean that they're running from religion.
0:58
We all know fear.
1:00
When you experience fear, your body reacts.
0:00
Today, we live more safely than we've ever done before.
0:07
From seat belts and airbags in our cars to the removal of lead paint and asbestos from our homes, our safety is guaranteed more than our shorter-lived ancestors could have imagined.
0:24
Quite simply, our culture has lost God as the proper object of fear.
1:16
Reeves.
1:20
Fear is a complicated emotion.
1:24
As children, we love to leap out on our friends and shout boo.
1:30
And yet, at the same time, we were scared of the dark, scared of the monsters under the bed.
1:40
We were both fascinated and repelled by our fears.
7:53
Reeves, what does it mean to consider Christ? Is there a, a translation of the Greek there that maybe we're missing?
8:00
Well, I, I, I think it's, it's a word that takes us away from the idea that we should simply know about Christ, that to know him in John's gospel is always associated with loving him, that you cannot know Jesus Christ without adoring him.
8:28
You're simply blind to who he is if you don't adore him.
8:32
And so the Puritans believed that 2 Corinthians 3:18 was really the heart of growth in the Christian life.
8:44
2 Corinthians 3:18, "We all with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into his image," the image of the one who is the glory of the Lord, Jesus Christ, "from one degree of glory to another." So the way in which we are transformed is not by simply telling ourselves we ought to become more like him and trying.
9:13
The heart, the, the fuel to our transformation is beholding him, gazing on him, so that I simply...
9:25
I, I don't just try to know truths about him.

But I'm, I'm wondering, are there Old Testament passages that also allow us to rejoice in Christ?
