Was there a specific experience or realization where you thought, I just need to build something different and go on a different path than I am today?

Michael PouliotGUEST
Yeah, so I think it came over time, slowly chipped away at my, you know, soul, I guess.

Michael PouliotGUEST
But, you know, At the time when I started, I was in JP Morgan's analyst program.

Michael PouliotGUEST
This was 2011, 12 timeframes, not the greatest time to be going into finance.

Michael PouliotGUEST
So there was very, there weren't a lot of people in the program that the year that I started and I was commuting from Princeton, which is about a two-hour commute from Princeton area to central midtown Manhattan, which is where the office was.

Michael PouliotGUEST
And so, you know, two hours each way plus a 12-hour workday usually, you know, meant that I was leaving the house at 5 and coming – Not much different, I guess, than the construction jobs, but no three o'clock end, right? We would work, you know, it was very, the culture was, and maybe it still is, very much like, you know, the most junior people leave last, right? So, you know, you can leave in order of seniority and reverse seniority, I guess, or...

Michael PouliotGUEST
or whatnot but um so i was usually the last uh to leave um or uh my managing director was a very hard worker so maybe we were there at the same time so uh but either way i was very frequently taking the last train home and uh then going to sleep waking up four hours later just to get back uh on the train so i think that over years of time was uh a lot of uh a lot to do, plus the studying and everything else that needed to happen in order to get that going.

Are you seeing those assets right now or is there another reason that people are selling?

Michael PouliotGUEST
Yeah, I mean, I would I would certainly say there's a fair bit of people who got over their skis and experience first cycle.

Michael PouliotGUEST
And, you know, they probably they came up post financial crisis, had, yeah, maybe a great knack for marketing and were able to raise a lot of capital.

Michael PouliotGUEST
in a high liquidity environment, right? Where the government was printing money, you know, every asset was worth way more than it was yesterday.

Michael PouliotGUEST
And so that money had to go somewhere and the Fed was just printing and it was obvious they were printing and they were easing as well.

Michael PouliotGUEST
So they were printing money and they were, you know, So everyone was like, sort of like, go for it.
