Yeah
4:07
...
4:07
I don't know if you're ever gonna get to a level where you don't have some high rounds.
4:11
A- I mean, it's just gonna be part of the journey.
4:13
But it's, it's making sure that you're just not making the same mistakes over and over again, and figuring out, you know, like, for me, like, earlier in the year, the, I was, you know, do my stats after every round.
4:24
It was the same areas of my game that were holding me back, right? So it was, like, wedges.
4:28
So I just got a wedge lesson and spent a lot of time at the simulator, getting my wedge matrix, doing these repetitive drills, and we cleaned it up.

Hmm.
DaveHOST
5:11
Can you just tell our listeners a bit more about it all?
5:14
Yeah, so this all just kind of started, I guess the brand itself started about four years ago, Wicked Smart Golf, but the journey for me started kind of about 10 years ago when I was kind of going through the motions in the corporate world and I was like, what's next? Like I was Googling how to retire early and I was 29 and I'm like, I I don't think this is really like, I've always been like kind of a go-getter type A.
5:37
I'm like, I don't think it's really about just making money and then go and sit on a beach.
5:41
Like, I think it's just about finding something I really like to do.
5:43
And so in 2016, I kind of set out, I called it my year of passions.
5:47
I was still working full-time in the corporate world doing sales.
5:50
And I was like, I just want to try other stuff.

roller coaster is going to be there.
4:07
But how are you continuing to improve? When we're, when we're talking about golf really is that hard, what, what is continuing to be the hardest thing for you to continue to improve?
4:21
I'd say it's just consistently going super low in tournaments and just back-to-back days and, you know, the hardest courses out there, the, the bigger the competition.
4:31
It, it's just a consistent, like, to me, it's been a lot of mindset stuff this year of like, I remember last year I was seven under through 12, and then I, I was so excited.
4:40
I remember it vividly.
4:41
I was, like, telling myself, I'm like, "I'm seven under.
4:43
I'm seven under." Like, I had never been out there in that low in competition, and then I just shit the bed.
4:50
I mean, that's the only way to say it.

10 MINS LATER

15:18
What, what do people get wrong about visualization typically, and what, what's, quote-unquote, "the right way" to visualize?
17:27
Mike?
17:28
Yeah.
17:28
I, so I, I, I think that's, that's mostly what I was gonna say as well, Steven.
17:33
I, I think that's the...
17:34
You go to your strategic planning session, you do some great work, you create what you think is a strategy, and then you get to your strategic planning session again next year, and you dust it off, and you realize that your business plan really didn't have any connection.
17:48
So I think being thoughtful about taking your strategic plan and being able to, if you're management, being able to go back to your board and say, "This was the outcome of our strategic planning session.
17:59
Here's how all of the activities that we're going to do this year connect back to that." But if you think also about, um, the strategic differentiator, it is a lens through which you can view strategy.
21:57
So it's always a bit of a tension when you identify this differentiator that you wanna, wanna work with and you think this one has some legs, but how do you balance all those customer expectations with your internal capabilities? Mike?
5:18
Mm-hmm
5:18
... specifically, and I was like, "Wow, that'd be pretty cool." And then I got in.
5:21
I was, you know, googling how to retire early, and I was like 27.
5:24
I'm like, "I don't think the goal is really retirement.
5:26
I think it's, like, just to actually enjoy what I'm doing." And so I, I knew obviously money was gonna be the, the whole thing here, and so I really started understanding money and stocks and just trying to kinda dive in on that.
5:37
And that's actually how I started my first blog, which was called Super Millennial, and it is ...
5:41
It was so bad probably, but I just was like, "I wanna share all this information," 'cause I felt like school didn't teach me anything.

5 MINS LATER

11:15
Yeah.
14:47
And so I asked him, firstly, to talk us through just what a probable cause hearing actually is in the American legal system, but also if he thought what Tony was telling me was correct, that if what Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith had uncovered was right, then it could mean the overturning and re-sentencing of thousands of incarcerated men and women across Michigan.
15:14
So what happens a lot in state court is you're first charged, which is essentially just a piece of paper.
15:20
It's a, it's a criminal complaint.
15:23
It's attested to by an affidavit.
15:25
That piece of paper with the facts presented are to establish probable cause, meaning it meets a very minimal standard that you can be charged with this crime, right? Every time you're charged in that manner, you have the opportunity to have what's called a probable cause hearing or a preliminary hearing, which means, and people probably seen these on TV before, the state puts on a witness or witnesses, tries to establish probable cause, that there's...
15:51
it meets the minimal standard to hold this person over to go ahead with the case.
15:55
And so you get the opportunity as the defense lawyer, it's a great opportunity for you 'cause you get a chance to cross-examine witnesses at a very early stage, and you can lock them into a story.
16:38
But am I right in saying that if this is true, and they did just completely skip this part of the process, that would mean that anyone who didn't get a probable cause hearing needs to have their convictions overturned and retried again?
