Michael Grimm

Former United States Representative

Aug 24, 2026

12:01
Dr. Grimm, when the conservative therapies don't work, which surgical options do we have at hand or what other invasive options do we have and how did they develop over the last years? Could you just give us a brief overview?
12:18
We have to discuss two points.
12:20
The one point is when should a patient switch from conservative therapies or medical treatment to interventional types of treatment.
12:30
And we have, of course, two different types.
12:33
We have the surgical septal myectomy.
12:37
This is a transaortic resection of the hypertrophic septum, which was introduced by Murrow and Brownwald in the early 60s.
12:46
Based on these principles, there are further techniques being developed now in order to increase the positive effect of the muscle resection.

15 MINS LATER

28:04
I don't know what you think about that, Dr. Graham.
7:54
Michael explained that he opted to keep things quiet partly because he works for a member of Congress, but also because he'd been warned against it by his attorney, Oliver Smith.
8:03
And his advice to me was, "Do not do that, because you will rock the boat, and then you will get even harsher punishment," right? Like, "All you're gonna do is piss them off, and we don't wanna do that."
8:19
Michael conveyed this same advice to Ryan that day on the phone.
8:23
I, I just told him, I was like, "Be careful.
8:25
Instead of getting six months, they may be like, 'Well, CNN is pissed, so we're gonna give you 10 years.' So there are, there could be unintended consequences."
11:06
Michael was arrested on August 1st, 2023, and he had to wait until September 18th for his sentencing hearing.
11:14
That weekend, everybody's kind of on nerves because, and me especially, because it's like I don't claim to have, like, known or, like, have, like, divine inspiration, but I had a gut feeling where I was just like, "This is not good.
11:29
Something is not going to go according to plan." The judge is 20 minutes late to the hearing.
11:35
He immediately gets into my sentencing comments, and he says that, well, he does find exceptional circumstances in my case, and then he says the forever burned into my memory.
11:48
He goes, "But I still find that a custodial sentence is mandatory." So essentially saying, "You don't have to do the 12 years, but you have to do something." And he says that because I retracted my statement on the stand- To say that I knew I had knowledge of the ammunition, well, that shows that he is irresponsible, he's careless, right? Like, he started going down the list of, like, adjectives for, like, my behavior.
12:22
And as a result of all of this, we find that a custodial sentence in prison is good for him.

29 MINS LATER

41:33
Content warning here for all the cat people out there.
41:37
There were a bunch of feral cats that roamed the prison.
