What's the management strategy for them and what impact can that have?

Yeah, so I suppose that's where it knuckles down to for the people in the West that are selling their lambs.

So generally, I suppose if we talk maybe primarily for the hill sheep farmers, you know, some farmers have very limited green ground in byland for finishing and feeding lambs.

So once the lambs are weaned, very often they have to go to the market at that stage.

Because there's limited green ground and maybe that ground is tied up for suckler cows or, you know, is required for, you know, yows, getting them ready for the ram or that type of thing.

And I think we need to be very conscious of that, that it's important that we don't end up, you know, feeding one group of animals at a much more greater cost for another group of animals.

For example, take, you know, breeding yows or suckler cows or something like that.

What are a couple of things you'll be looking at there? And what are the really important things you need to do before we get them ready

Others tended to lay, making like, The challenge here maybe of not weaning, like what is the downsides of it and what do we need to look at there in terms of getting those lambs off and maybe looking at drying off those yows?

Yeah, so look, often people think, you know, maybe particularly if lambs are a little bit behind or something, I leave them on the yows for a couple of extra weeks, it'll do them good.

And all the research work shows that it's actually the opposite that happens because we're at the time of the year where breast quality is, you know, a little bit more challenging and And you have the yaws competing with the lambs for the best grass.

So remember that the sheep are preferential grazers, so they'll seek out the more succulent leaves first.

So when you leave a group of yaws and lambs in, the yaws are selecting that grass as well.

They're not milking a whole pile at that stage, so they're not adding a whole lot to the lambs.

So really, 14 weeks of age is the latest that we should be weaning.
