But first, could you tell us a little bit about the Nakamoto Institute, what the goal is, why you founded it?

Yeah, so the Satoshi Nakamoto Institute was founded in 2013 while I was a student at the University of Texas.

And its main purpose has been to advance and preserve Bitcoin knowledge from the economics, history, technology.

So I think we are most prominently known for being one of the best online archives for Bitcoin prehistory.

This is the works of the cypherpunks and crypto anarchists, the Austrian economists, all of these different intellectual lineages that Bitcoin was building on.

All of those shoulders of giants that Bitcoin is standing on so that we can better understand the ideas that Bitcoin was coming out of and how to make sense of Bitcoin.

And we have also done a number of bits of economic analysis of Bitcoin.

And before we wrap up, so what are your first impressions of El Salvador and what do you think of the idea of a Bitcoin country?

I-

Whoo! [clapping] So, you know, one, one way that I think about how the Nakamoto Institute is changing, you know, the, the website's been up since 2013, and, um, you know, a lot of people have, have read it in that time.

Up until now, it was very much a sort of exclusive website.

It was very curated of, here are the things that, you know, we want people to read.

These are the most important cypherpunk essays and stuff like that.

And the way that we're kind of shifting now is that, uh, I want to, I want to have everything.

Um, we are entering the age of AI slop, of, you know, we have lots of informational warfare and psyops and all of that.

[laughs]

Right.

And so they were building these alliances, so if I complained about being mistreated, that person that I thought I could trust then immediately went to the chief and said, "Hey, Mike's complaining again.

He's fel- he feels targeted.

He feels this, he feels that." And then all of a sudden I get a talking to while I'm in the bay.

"Hey, I heard your complaint again.

You need to let it go." The worst thing you could do, especially as an officer or somebody you know that somebody's not doing things, somebody's struggling, and you know, like, they're having some major issues, you need to learn how to let it go.

That is not good therapy.

How do you handle the voices of the haters and any criticisms that might come your way on social media? What strategies do you use to stay focused and not let it impact your mission?
