What was it that pulled you in that direction decades ago?
2:51
Yeah, so the story most people don't know, I was working at a hospital.
2:57
I was a lab technician, so I used to draw blood for a living.
3:02
Yeah, I know.
3:03
I've been better.
3:04
No.
3:07
My stepdad's a physician, and he's a techie physician.

21:50
What was that like for you?
2:39
But inside a business, as things are moving so fast, what do you see it? I see a disconnect.
2:47
So when I look at businesses today, businesses are saying, hey, we need AI.
2:51
Why? What's the North Star? What is the direction? What are we trying to accomplish? And a lot of leaders today are, unfortunately, they're doing what the board says or what the market says.
3:01
They're actually not going back and saying, do we require this? Do we need this today? Where's it going to save us in time, attention? Is this going to drive revenue for us? Is this going to decrease revenue? So I spend a lot of my time today talking to companies on how to actually enable AI.
3:21
Where does it fit in their business process? What are they going to gain from that? What are they going to lose from it? And the biggest thing that they always lose is they go, well, I'm going to replace Johnny with AI and AI agents to do Johnny's work.
3:33
And I go, what's Johnny going to do? Who's going to manage these AI agents? Who's going to build the identity around them? And then once you start looking at that, we're back to where we started in the cloud days of IT sprawl.
3:48
We saw lines of business going out and building cloud applications because IT wasn't moving fast enough for them.

Are you sensing that?
AbrahamHOST
11:13
Yeah.
11:15
Machines are meant for those things.
11:18
And then all of a sudden, what do we do now? We're treating machines as humans.
11:24
I'm asking my machine, how do you feel today? I don't feel so good.
11:28
Can you help me? And all of a sudden you start using your machine as a counselor or as a doctor.
11:35
And guess what? It might have every answer in the world.
11:38
Yeah.
AbrahamHOST
15:14
How can they distinguish between healthy momentum and simply reacting to everything happening around them?
4:09
Yeah.
4:10
'Cause I'm real serious about it, like, "I got pulled over." And then I start telling the story, and they go, "Oh my God, he really did get pulled over for driving a stolen car." And then I start talking about how it relates back to data and how data can...
4:24
Invalid data causes issues.
4:27
So long story short, I got pulled over in Memphis at 2:00 in the morning, and I always describe it as I went left, the cop went left.
4:34
I went right, cop went right.
4:35
And I'm like...
4:35
And then all of a sudden I turn around, it's seven cop cars, the K-9 unit.
