So would you like to just introduce some of your story and tell us a little bit about you and your family?

sure thank you so much for having me i'm looking forward to this conversation and uh you know i get to talk about my family which is also a joy so i appreciate the chance to do that uh i have a wife and two biological children and when they were 10 years old and nine years old respectively uh as a family we decided that we have some resources and we have some capacity and we're aware of some need.

At the time we were living in the state of Michigan and we said there are kids that need a home and we're in a position to help that to happen.

And so we began exploring the foster opportunities in the state of Michigan.

We weren't trying to complete our family or overcome, you know, a lack of biological children or whatever, you know, all kinds of motivations to get into the foster and adoption world.

But our goal really was to see if we had resources that could help meet a need.

And we as a family discovered a ten year old boy that seemed like a good fit for us.

What do you think had shaped your rescuing expectations in the beginning and what kind of things unraveled them?
