From there, I mean, oh, man, here's where we g- get into all the great shows happening.

Yes, lots of shows.

I'll try to go through them as best I can here.

Um, first one up, we had mentioned earlier, it's from that Naomi Brown cover, the Settlers West Gallery's Great American West opens November 21st in Tucson.

A ton of great work here, uh, from all kinds of people, including, uh, John Fawcett and Mark Kelso, Robert Peters, Naomi Brown, Jonathan Noon.

Really great material.

Um, that is a, a buy draw sale, so you gotta be there opening night.

Wow.

So let's go.

It's a very unique cover.

I mean, it's just really special for us.

We've had, I'll start by saying it's a photograph.

It's a very historic photograph.

We've had photographs on the cover before.

We've had the Jesse James photo from the, you know, from Jesse James time.

Why don't we just move right into features then? I think that's what everybody's waiting to listen to.

Well, you know what we're at features is our, our next area and I will let you take it from here.

Yeah.

First one up is an article called A Guiding Light.

It's by Michael Pierce, and he writes about Richard Schmid and the palette and chisel.

Richard Schmid, of course, was the very famous painter who passed away not that long ago.

Really remarkable guy.

Richard Schmid passed away in 2021.

Oh,

Shows.

We go to our gallery shows, and then of course, museums and other things, but, uh, we'll start with the galleries.

Um, we have a lot, so I'm gonna just start hitting through these really quick here.

Uh, first one up is all the September shows at Altamira Fine Art.

This is, uh, the Altamira's location in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

They're gonna have a bunch of shows there, including, uh, new, uh, works by Ben Steele, Michael Blessing, Rocky Hawkins, uh, Robert Moore, um, Stephanie Revenaud, Michael Blessing.

I think I maybe said him.

But Michael, they're not attacking anyone.

It's, it's, it's very unique, and I'm very excited to hear you, hear about it.

Yeah, this is, this is gonna be a first for us.

Uh, the artist is J. Dylan Cavan, and, uh, he r- uh, sent us a piece called Waiting on the Tax Collector.

It's gonna be at Acosta Strong Fine Art, and it's really, uh, just a unique, uh, piece.

It's, uh, very exciting for us to have it on the cover.

It is in ink and colored pencil on original, on a- on an original ledger document, so if anyone's familiar with ledger art, um, it's ...

This is the, the practice of artists who, who take, uh, old antique paper and draw and paint on them and just sort of repurpose them as their ...

Mm-hmm

Like, just come on, keep bringing it on.

Right.

[laughs] We go right into it.

And here, I'll, I'll jump right in.

So first up we have, uh, a June 30th opening at, at Jackson Hole, uh, the Jackson Hole location for Altamira for Billy Shank.

Uh, Billy has a new show, and he kinda goes out there a little bit.

He does some of his more, um, in-your-face, [laughs] uh, more provocative imagery here.

And when I saw her work I was like, "Oh man, this is so, so cool," and, and, and like, "I know we need to get her in the magazine." And it's, I'm so happy to see another show from her in the magazine.

Let's talk about the cover choice this month.

Yeah.

So for our June issue, you did mention it's our Prix de West issue.

We don't always pick the Prix de West, but we frequently do.

This is where most of the artists are, uh, gonna be bringing some of their best work, uh, to, to Oklahoma City for the Prix de West every year in June.

So, um, we do have a Prix de West artist on this cover, and it looks spectacular.

Uh, our cover artist is Brett Allen Johnson.
