Was that something that your peers or the university or also your GP training, was that something that was addressed that you could relate to?
13:13
There is a lot of drug use amongst our peers.
13:17
We have a 10 to 12% career risk, just like the normal public, of using something to help soothe our anxieties.
13:25
Whether that's alcohol, especially expensive malt whiskeys because we've got disposable income.
13:29
Whether that's sleeping tablets, Valium, Diazepam.
13:32
And we can use that to help us quieten our monkey minds because we are overthinkers.
13:39
We are perfectionists.

Thank you so much.

So if you're looking back at your early career, and you're happy to share kind of how, how your relationship, I believe was it alcohol and drugs that you were addicted to, how that kind of developed and, you know, whether there was a point at which you realized that this has gone beyond the coping mechanisms that other people might be employing.
4:40
Okay.
4:41
So it was difficult being the clever kid at school.
4:44
I got bullied quite a lot.
4:46
These adverse childhood events led to me being wired and fired and predisposed to abnormal coping mechanisms.
4:54
When I discovered alcohol, it was a case of instant asshole, just add alcohol.
4:58
I was a liability.
8:46
Will you tell us a bit more about, about that when you, when you did seek help and what that looked like kind of logistically and how it, how it worked out?
