I think Trump saw that the American people saw that in a sense as corruption, a corruption of inaction, and part of what he's done is broken that, and he's taken the excuses away in some ways.

Senator Michael Bennet saw a little more room for a president to act, even on something as big as health care.

What are you going to do with the powers of HHS, the powers of Medicare, the powers of Medicaid to be able to move in the direction of universal health care, even if we haven't passed it?

What would you say to that progressive voter?

Well, I'd say that I agree that Phil Weiser doesn't have a bold, progressive vision for Colorado.

I'm the only candidate in this rate.

What do you say to that voter?

Well, first of all, make sure you vote.

Don't be paralyzed.

It's an amazing opportunity as an American, as a Coloradan, to be able to vote.

And I hope that everybody does vote.

Obviously, I'd love you to vote for me.

And what I'd say to you is that I have much broader experience than Phil does.

Is there a concern that you hear from voters with regularity that you think has not really been picked up by the media or has not become part of the broader conversation about this race but you think matters a lot to people?

I wanna remove barriers." And I was like, "What? How? What are the ones? What are the moves? What are the bills that he has not considered or proposed that you wanna do?"

Well, I think, for example-- First of all, this isn't just about bills.

So I think that's a huge mistake.

This is about propelling our entire state to have a, a s- an aligned set of incentives and a, and an, an aligned commitment to a set of outcomes that, um, that is gonna make it possible for our kids to afford housing here.

One of the ideas that I included was using the state's balance sheet so that we can provide 30% more state-supported housing than, uh, than the, uh, the state government has been able to do so far.

That's an idea that's totally different than what Jared Polis has proposed.

I think my approach would be totally different as well.

Do you think you're out of touch with the average Coloradan?

Why should Coloradans trust that your agenda is about them and not an out-of-state billionaire?

Well, I think Coloradans can look at my history in Colorado, and they'll see that I have fought for them at every turn.

I fought for them when I got the Child Tax Credit enacted to cut childhood poverty, not just in Colorado in half, but across the country in half.

when I fought for 700,000 acres of public lands in our state, when I beat Donald Trump in his effort to sell off the public lands of Colorado, when I fought to ensure that our wind and solar industry were protected, when I fought to make sure that the Shoshone water Right, speaking of what Phil was just talking about, on the western slope of Colorado was protected.

I put my record up against any statewide elected official in Colorado, and for that matter, across the country.

There's a reason why I've been willing to take on my own party at times when that's hurt.

There's a reason why I was the first national Democrat to say that Joe Biden was gonna lose in a landslide and should be replaced, and it's because I am representing the children that I work for in the Denver public schools and kids all over rural Colorado.

You have 60 seconds.

What would a governor have done?

The entire Roaring Fork Valley.

And this isn't just a governor's job.

This is six million people that are Colorado.

We have to commit to this.

Let me give you another example.

When I first started going out to the Roaring Fork Valley, I would meet teachers all the time who would say to me, "We live in the most beautiful place in America, and what's awesome about this place is I can teach in Carbondale, I can teach in Basalt, I can teach in Aspen, and I can work in the m- at the resort in the winter, and I can get by." Today, when I'm out there, people are literally in tears because the only way that if they're a teacher, that they can afford housing, is if they win a housing lottery run by their school district.
