When did you start recording and putting this album together?
6:19
We started recording the end of last year and we worked really hard.
6:26
We got in contact with this producer, Tom Darghetti, and we really became really good friends.
6:40
We worked really hard before we went into the studio for months with the songs, just squeeze out the best we could from every song.
6:49
I mean, if the song was, this is a great song, or it's a good song, but we wanted to make it a great song.
6:57
So we worked on everything for months before we went into the studio in Stockholm and recorded it.
7:05
um so so it was a lot of work but it for us it really paid off because we're really proud of this album more proud than ever i think
12:03
Who came up with the concept for that?

So to the uninitiated, What would you say sets this album apart from some of the previous in your catalog?
14:33
Well, I'd say that with this, I'd say the three albums before this one or actually, I mean, we had a break for 12 years and got to get got back together again in 2004, I think.
14:52
And the records we made since have been more of a spontaneous thing, which isn't necessarily bad at all, but it's a different way of working.
15:01
Whereas with this album, we worked with a producer called Tom Darghetti, and we just clicked instantly.
15:13
And we really worked hard on the songs in a way that we haven't done before.
15:20
For example, the two albums we did with Dave Cobb, he didn't want to hear any demos of songs.
15:27
He just said, no, no, no, I don't want to hear it.
17:19
How did you have a, strike up that relationship or who, who did you know someone to hire him or?
9:11
that's the thing about europe is that you guys have consistently i mean you guys have been a band that puts out new material and you know i i think that i go back to whenever i kind of really got back into listening to some of the new stuff is when you guys released last look of eden i love that album i think it's tremendous and then since then you guys have done bag of bones and war of kings walk the earth you guys keep releasing albums in an era where a lot of bands from your time period say they're not interested in new music so why why do you guys want to focus on continuing to put out new songs
9:48
Well, you know, we had a sort of a long coffee break between 1992 and 2004, like 12 years.
9:55
And we had a meeting around 2003, maybe.
10:06
In my place, we sat around my kitchen table and we talked about maybe we should put the band together again.
10:13
But if we're going to do so, what shall we do? Should we go back and play the 80s stuff only and try to recreate that somehow? And we said, no, we don't want to do that.
10:26
We want to try and explore and sort of... you know, try different ways and just have fun with what we do, where we create the music that we do.
10:38
We just want to have fun with it and try different stuff.

And to know that you guys can consistently be playing festivals, big shows all over the world, all over Europe, is there a time where you sit back and you think, like, we didn't plan on... being here this long like you guys the longevity has been incredible you know over 40 years you know what's that mean to you to have this longevity here i

So comment a little bit about the general sense and the theme of the album.
8:26
Yeah, sure.
8:28
Yes, you're absolutely right.

It's a legend of hypnosis and a legacy of Storm Ferguson and hypnosis and the fantastic albums that they did.

And we just wanted to...
