Did you get the sense that the candidates understood the issues that Maine residents are bringing to their local leaders every day?

I did get a sense that they understood many of the issues Maine residents are bringing to their local leaders.

Two of the three candidates, as we know, have significant legislative experience.

And throughout their careers, they've heard directly from municipal leaders through testimony and their work at the statehouse.

But all three were very interested in learning more.

I was particularly encouraged that all three candidates expressed a genuine interest in gaining information directly from municipal leaders.

Each made similar comments, recognizing that municipal officials are often first and most frequently, as we know, the first point of contact for Maine residents when they have concerns about their communities and the services that they rely on.

Did you hear evidence that the candidates appreciate that distinction? And if so, what stood out to you?
