Help us out and advise us, what are some of the most common illnesses goats may be exposed to or develop after attending a show?

Yeah, and of course, there's a million different illnesses that goats can come into contact with at a show.

In particular, if we're talking about a fair that's, for example, like a lot of the fairs local to me, where your goats are being housed either in the same barn or adjacent to the meat goats, the 4H goats, sometimes even the sheep and the cows, and those guys also harbor a lot of different pathogens that can be contagious to our dairy goats.

For the purposes of today, when we were talking about, like, the show ick, I kind of focused in on the respiratory funk, because I think that when most of us think about the show ick, we think about the snots that everyone comes home with after the fair or after nationals, all those big shows where maybe our goats are staying for More than the weekend, we're being exposed to a larger volume of animals from different areas of, you know, the state or the country if we're talking about nationals.

And all of those factors kind of come together to cause the snots.

[laughs] Um, so there's not, like, a single thing that causes the show ick.

It is a combination of we have a stressor, but, like, our animals are under stress because of traveling across the country, uddering for shows, different penning and housing arrangements, along with being exposed to different viruses and bacteria from different herds or, and [laughs] from not just different herds, but from different species as well.

Do they help kind of? Is it more just good juju, or what are your thoughts on that?
