What, what, what, what about those stories that don't seem to point to Jesus? How do I then approach those?

So the first thing I would say about this is God is speaking through every text in the Bible, but sometimes in order to hear God speak, you need to put that text in the context of the wider story.

Because what God is saying through that particular chapter or verse might have something to do with the place of that chapter or verse and the big arc of what God is doing.

And I can give you an example of a God conversation I had where that larger context really changed.

There's a story in Exodus 33.

It's just after the people of Israel were caught worshiping a golden cow, a golden idol.

And God is very upset.

Could God speak to us something from the Bible that God never meant for the original hearers?
