Can you talk to us about the inspiration for writing your book and what you found most enjoyable and most challenging?

Maxine ScheckterGUEST
um the inspiration was i just always loved books loved cookbooks as soon as i said yes to my mum even before that she was buying me cookbooks for my birthday and i always loved it um i got a huge cookbook collection and i love the idea of inspiring someone the way i was inspired by books when i was younger especially when i was younger like the internet wasn't as fast as it is now and there were a lot of like there are a few baking blogs but you couldn't find information as easily so my mum would buy these books and it was like a whole another world through them.

Maxine ScheckterGUEST
so i really wanted to do that and also there's a bit of me that's also very insecure about my intelligence so i left high school a year early to pursue cooking which i really wanted to do like i was so over school um and then one point in my career i got a bit burnt out and i went to university and that lasted like literally two weeks um So I also, a bit of me wanted to prove like, yeah, I'm smart enough to write a book, you know? The hardest part was just, it was so much work and for such a long time.

Maxine ScheckterGUEST
So for about a year, every night I would go home after work and I would have to type up

So what advice would you give to those wanting to learn more about it or, you know, what kind of approach can we take when we're wanting to do more patisserie bakes?

Maxine ScheckterGUEST
For me, it's really like when I was writing the book and I talk about it a little bit in the introduction that it's a book for me when I was 16 and I decided this is what I want to do.
