And, um, he managed to get, you know, Steve Coogan involved, which is great, and of course we got Ray Winstone involved, which is Lois's dad, um, which is great.
Colette CooperGUEST

And we've got loads of amazing people like Anna Friel's on board to customize it, Maxine Peake.
Colette CooperGUEST

We want Ricky Gervais to come on board and help customize this T-shirt, 'cause the more the merrier, and then we'll auction it for as much as we can get.

My paternal grandfather, who lived with us, was a card-carrying communist until the day he died, and Dad had been a member of the YCL before I was born.

Our mutual friend Maxine Peake mentioned your new book to me a few months ago.
Talal KarkoutiHOST

Lauren MurphyHOST

This six-part miniseries, though, is based in Australia and follows the story of this man called Ian, who is played by Patrick Bramall, who, as you said... is from Colin from Accounts so you'll recognise him if you watch that comedy series.
Lauren MurphyHOST
5:57
He plays a former police officer who now works as a dispatcher for the emergency services and we know we learn fairly early on that Ian is a recovering alcoholic and the reason for his addiction is that 11 years ago his three-year-old daughter was kidnapped and is basically being presumed dead his ex-wife has moved on she's expecting a child with a new partner and then the skeletal remains of a child are found in the woods not far from their town this is the opening scene of the series by the way so no spoilers but that turns his world obviously upside down once again because it's assumed that this is obviously their little girl but then he receives a phone call in his job as a dispatcher that completely changes everything I really really like this this is a beautifully shot series to start with like it looks fantastic like the color palette the mood everything about how it looks is great but all that would be pointless if the story wasn't up to scratch and the story absolutely is up to scratch it is so gripping there are so many twists and turns the acting is excellent to be fair Patrick Bramall who plays Ian in particular is excellent Maxine Peake is in this as well she is brilliant in everything she is such a good actress and she's excellent in this there's another actor called Brendan Cowell who plays a character called Henry wasn't familiar with him at all to be honest he's excellent as well just the right level of sinister and compelling so there's so many things going for this series I really think it's worth a watch
Aoife BarryHOST
7:23
That is so great.
Aoife BarryHOST
7:23

Yes.
Lee ArnottHOST
15:21
So they weren't originally going to cast because they weren't convinced she could do an Aussie accent.
DaveHOST
47:57
So, uh, yeah, this does sound interesting.
Gray PantonHOST
48:00
I have a real fascination for some dramas like this, and I remember quite a few years ago, the drama Silk with Maxine Peake-

A five-star review for Last Scene on Apple TV.
John FardyHOST

And then very quickly, I just want to mention, as a little coming up for you, we normally look back on the week that's been, but as the week ahead, a new show that's starting, courtesy of our friends and TG Cahir, called A Pair of Teeth.
Andrew MercadoHOST
18:52
From the moment I started watching this and he was in that first scene and just that sadness in his eyes just really captured me.
Andrew MercadoHOST
19:02
And I mean, last scene's got all these ingredients, all of these great actors like Brendan Cowell and Maxine Peake and Daniel Henshaw and Burt LeBondt.
Andrew MercadoHOST
19:14
And filmed in Australia, all Australian cast.
Andrew MercadoHOST
19:18
It should have everything going for it, but James, I didn't believe any of it.

James ManningHOST
24:33
The thing, the biggest...
James ManningHOST
24:35
I don't know how we can talk about this without spoilers, though, but we also meet when, in separate scenes in that first series, we meet Henry and Jenna Ree.
James ManningHOST
24:43
That's Brendan Cowell and his wife, played by Maxine Peake.
James ManningHOST
24:47
Good to see her in it.
Wenlei MaGUEST
5:14
So hopefully this is not too spoilerific for anybody.
Wenlei MaGUEST
5:18
But, yeah, it definitely plays into the story because she has grown up as Sarah, the daughter of Brendan Cowell's character, Henry, and they're kind of like these reclusive, almost Christian fundamentalists, lives off the grid with his wife, played by the, I think she's British, Maxine Peake, yeah.
Wenlei MaGUEST
5:36
And, you know, has always hidden her away from the public, you know, homeschooled.
Wenlei MaGUEST
5:40
If anyone knocks on the door, she has to kind of hide behind this curtain
