drama around Bitcoin.

But here in El Salvador, where we're prepping for Bitcoin Historico, it's important to keep some ideas in mind.

First of all, Kathy Woods, just a couple of years ago, was here.

And she predicted when the GDP was roughly $30 billion, we'd see a 10x jump in GDP by 2029 in five years.

At the time, that seemed outlandish.

But in fact, I think we're on track.

Because of what's been built here, which I call and we call the freedom stack, of which Bitcoin is one layer of the freedom stack.

So could you give us a macroeconomic overview? What's happening with the yen carry trade and the bondpocalypse and why Bitcoin is so important to get it right?

Uh, j- just kinda like when, when, you know, when the history books are written, uh, so to speak, what do you think is gonna be the most misunderstood part of what has happened in El Salvador?

Well, j- just the first of all, as we were talking briefly before air, the idea where El Salvador has gone through the fourth turning and is the first country in the world to start up into the first turning, uh, is true.

It's palpable.

We've been talking about this for a couple of years.

You know, El Salvador had 40 years of bad times.

It had civil war, gang war.

And then the President Bukele arrives in, uh, 2019, and, uh, strong men create good times.

Yeah.

I know that sounds like some new age woo woo, but you were kinda talking about that before, Max, about it's almost like the second coming of Jesus in a weird way.

Right.

Well, okay, let's, let's kinda get, get into that for a little bit.

So there's actually a lot of logic to it.

And, uh, you look at what Bitcoin right now competes with fiat money or paper money or state money, right? In the United States, we have the US dollar, and obviously there's the euro, the yen, uh, Chinese currency.

And these are all currencies that, um, uh, as n- as, as Paul Krugman at The New York Times, who's, uh, their economist and a very Nobel Prize winner and, and very, uh, often quoted liberal, um, he, he would ask, "Well, what backs the US dollar?" He said, "Men with guns." And of course that's true, because the, the piece of paper that is the dollar, it has no value other than the fact that, um, the, the US government can coerce you to use it to, to pay taxes and things like that, under a threat of violence.

Also, uh, other countries around the world, US dollar is the world reserve currency, they coerce countries to use dollars.

Um, I wanted to hear your thoughts on the importance of the differentiation between, for example, what China's doing with social credit and, you know, the enforcement of bank-backed digital currencies, and then the importance of decentralized cryptocurrency, specifically Bitcoin, going forward.

O sea, cómo se están haciendo ustedes también responsables.

Formas parte de una organización de la sociedad civil, apoyas organizaciones de la sociedad civil.

¿Te interesa, por ejemplo, el tema de la educación de los que no tienen educación? Hay un chorro de organizaciones que necesitan tu tiempo, tu dinero, tu creatividad.

Te interesan los derechos humanos.

No tienes que ir a salvar tú solito el mundo.

With the US dollar, you have no volatility, but you're guaranteed to lose money.

So during this period where the globe makes a move from, uh, paper money to Bitcoin, of course it's going to create, um, changes, and, and, and, and, and there's fear.

People are- there's fear-mongering, and they, they...

Can you tell me when you went from not knowing about this, 'cause I know you're a financial expert anyway, to hearing about it, and how- what your mental process was of, "Wait a minute, this is fucking brilliant?"
