Chevron on what coolant sampling can tell fleets about engine health

Are there any success stories, you don't have to mention the fleet by name or anything, but just that are sticking out to you where this kind of focus on monitoring has really helped them either lower their maintenance spend or improve their uptime regarding the coolant systems in any significant way?

Max CundiffGUEST
Yeah, I'd say one scenario recently that we saw with the fleet is they weren't experiencing any obvious cooling system complaints.

Max CundiffGUEST
But they were one of those fleets, like I mentioned earlier, that does routine coolant sampling.

Max CundiffGUEST
And the technicians, they actually found that the glycol concentration had drifted well above the optimal target range.

Max CundiffGUEST
And when I say optimal target range, most people understand that glycol in your coolant is a good thing.

John HitchHOST
If you're not doing that, what are some of the things you've seen that can happen with your engine, your cooling system, and just overall uptime if everyone out there is just ignoring what you're saying today, Max?

Max CundiffGUEST
No, I mean, and I think the other part to maybe what Scott's getting at as well is I think, you know, we're staying ahead of the lubricant needs and understanding, like, how do we need to formulate these products going forward? And I'll give you an example.

Max CundiffGUEST
We understand that varnish is a huge concern specifically for turbines, right? And maybe even hydraulic applications.

Max CundiffGUEST
So we thought, hey, maybe what should we do here to help the problem out? from happening in the first place to help prevent varnish.

Max CundiffGUEST
So we reformulated our GST advantage turbine oils with what we call Vartek technology, which is simply an additive package we put together for their products that's going to help prevent varnish formation in these turbines.

Max CundiffGUEST
So it's, hey, not only do we understand your problems and we'll help you when varnish, when you do have varnish, but we're thinking ahead, okay, well, how do we prevent varnish in the first place?
