Ollie OllertonGUEST
You know, looking back, I didn't, I didn't obviously do a debrief straight afterwards at 10 years old, but looking back now, it taught me a few things.

Ollie OllertonGUEST
If we wanna do anything in this life, in this world, we wanna change who we are, whatever it might be, we wanna grow, we wanna expand, you have to go through a level of discomfort.

Ollie OllertonGUEST
Secondly, it taught me that regardless of your situation, you always have a choice, provided you keep momentum.

been inspired by you, but I'm sure they've got their own version of their own story to tell as well.

Ollie OllertonGUEST
You know, one thing that changed my life is the fact when I said to myself, oh, this is a comment I made some time ago, and it's so true.

Ollie OllertonGUEST
It said, my life started to change in a more positive aspect when I started to do what I wanted as opposed to doing what I thought was expected.

Ollie OllertonGUEST
Again, this is the external view of thinking the external is going to fix this.

How do you think someone can recognise what their break point is before crisis forces them to stop or worse?

i myself because i've never been there before like i said to you before i felt invincible When you had that team around you, those situations, you were like, bring it on, give it to me, test me.

Ollie OllertonGUEST
You know what I mean? But in that moment, when I had one person backing me up, I just thought, I'm not coming home.

Ollie OllertonGUEST
And then I started in that moment, you know, I didn't realize it, and this is something that I've unraveled, right? in that moment because this is what happens when we go into a situation where we're feeling under pressure we're nervous we're stressed we start to breathe shallow true and then before you know your cortisol is starting to increase because it's a fight or flight response and this is all happening in this moment you know when i'm being shot at i'm driving the car i'm having to think about i'm going to have to retaliate i'm going to have to fight and shoot back at these these people while i'm trying to control a car at 120 k's an hour And then my head started going to all these places like the intelligence reports that I've had that cars being pulled to the side of the road, all the things that could go wrong, right? And then the responsibility, like I had a team of people that we were looking after, the responsibility of looking after those people.

Ollie OllertonGUEST
But then when the bullets went down, I heard the first rounds going down from the enemy, bang, straight back into a special forces soldier.

I think there's been so many moments with conversations I've had with guests I've already had on the podcast where I could have easily... twisted and used some of their content in a controversial way which might have triggered like a viral reel but it's just not me it's not something I want to do I always go for the the reel I think is going to have the most impact and portray them in the best light and give their message which sometimes I think is that helping because if I was to grow it the platform then it helps them more so it's it's a fine balance but i just follow this at all at all times

Ollie OllertonGUEST
yeah that's so important and uh we talked about this this morning in the meditation it's like you know while we're on that and you know it's so important that we lead learn to lead with this the heart whereas we're always thinking we've got to fix the mind it's the mind blah blah this and the other but it has to start in the heart and you know this is where it all starts and that you know that to me is the real antenna from the outside world you know this to me is more mechanical you know this is a system but i think this and you know i could be wrong people have different opinions but i believe this is where it starts if it's not right in the heart i think the heart is the the um the filter system you know if it's not right in the heart then it you know it's never gonna it's never gonna affect correctly saying that have you ever heard about the heart thing have you heard about the girl in in the states It's a really interesting thing.

yeah when i first passed out training i went straight to northern ireland that was my first tour and then um we came straight back from that and then we're called out to desert storm um um but I don't know I came back from there and I was I was pretty I'll tell you what I was I was in Northern Ireland and as a young lad um this is how my first I was I was disillusioned at a very early stage in my career and I had a I don't know if you call it an epiphany I don't know what to call it but I had a realization pretty shortly after getting to Northern Ireland I kind of I looked at the things they were asking us to do, and I didn't have any faith in what was happening out there.

Ollie OllertonGUEST
I just came up with this assumption that all these jobs they were asking us to do, all these sort of missions, operations, whatever, it was just...

Ollie OllertonGUEST
It was just the fact that I didn't believe there was any credibility in them.
