How did you get into all that?

I think it was through the alumni.

I think Alzheimer's is where it first started.

Toronto event, Edmonton, Calgary, three events that I still do to this day.

And they are amazing events.

And then it kind of expanded.

You get someone who's like, oh my God, you were so much fun and you raised a lot of money for this event.

Advice for a 24-year-old.

First of all, Stanley Cup champion, Calder,

off-ice guru, right? I set up a lot of parties for these teams.

Yes.

That's kind of my trophy.

The group guy.

Yeah.

But listen, I would have loved to play in Canada.

But you, you're not, you're not replacing that.

Everyone's like, "Oh, we're just as good.

We don't need Mitch Marner.

We're gonna replace him by committee." But Vegas looks and lose Marner, and they go from plus 700 the year before to plus 1,400 to win the cup.

Okay, let's talk about the Marner thing, him leaving, and Leafs fans, where they are now with what happened.

Philadelphia, the first few minutes of that game, was better to con- uh, to, to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Uh, but goaltending played a huge fact.

Scheifele made some great saves early in that game, and Pittsburgh took over.

They deserve to win that game.

And going back to Philadelphia, now the pressure is on Philadelphia.

Does Canada have to find a way to, to spread it out a little more, or do you think just kinda putting Suzuki back up the middle in a spot he's more comfortable and getting Bennett back in the lineup kinda helps them make things deeper without breaking up that top line? Like, how, how big a mistake has it been to kinda turn Canada into a one-line team at this tournament?

Well, I don't think they meant it to turn it, mean to turn it, uh, into a one-line team, but certainly they have been by far the most dominant and most glaring.

Uh, and there's times where you, you even forget some players that are even on the ice.

You're like, "Where's this guy been?" And Suzuki is one of those guys.

And when you're not playing your regular position, certainly it, it takes some adjusting, and he looked much more comfortable up the middle, obviously coming in with a hu- with a huge goal at the end of that game.

But listen, they, they want all lines to be rolling.

Unfortunately, there's just little pockets where they're getting it from the other three lines.

Like, how, how would you view that potential gold medal matchup between the Canadians and the Americans?

What is the play here? If you're the general manager, what do you see happening with the Maple Leafs in the future?

Well, if they don't make the playoffs, I don't know who the general manager is going to be.

That's first and foremost.

Second of all, listen, if you lose to Colorado and you lose to Vegas and it's a hard-fought game, they're two better teams.

I understand that.

Lose 3-2, lose 4-3, whatever it may be.

But when you lay eggs at this point of the season, that's where it's really tough.

What's the future look like in these three goaltenders that have the potential to play for the Leafs?

and being where they are right now and the things that you've said they have decisions to make i mean this homestand was massive as far as your playoff potential and i don't think i don't know what vegas says but they do not have a good chance of making the playoffs let's be honest what is the play here if you're the general manager what do you see happening with the maple leafs in the future

Well, if they don't make the playoffs, I don't know who the general manager is going to be.

I can bring you back to when I was in Pittsburgh, and we had Kevin Constantine, and we were struggling a little bit.

No one on our team liked Kevin Constantine.

Maybe a couple of our, our players that probably played a little bit more than they should, maybe those three people liked Kevin Constantine, but 95% of the team were just waiting for the shoe to drop for Kevin Constantine to get fired.

We'd sit at the back of the bus...

And I'm never gonna say no one goes into a game, even though we didn't like Kevin, and we were waiting for him to get fired, we still tried when we went onto the ice.

There, there's no player, I don't care if it was myself, or Martin Strakal, or Jaromir Jagr, that didn't give 100%, but I think subconsciously, y- you aren't the same player when you're waiting for a shoe to drop.

I don't know.

Mm-hmm.

but it's convincing him not to, not to want to leave.

Then I think they're, they're gonna look at...

Listen, th- this team was like one and seven at the start of the year, and lion save percentage was like .924.

Like, that's ridiculous.

They couldn't score goals.

It's trying to grab players from wherever you can.

Then goaltending wasn't so good and they did score goals.

But it, it, it's, you know...

There's so many areas of, of need.

Listen, Owen Power is a, is a, is a good offensive player, but for what they're paying him, and they already have a number one quarterback, uh, on the power play in, in Dahlin.

Dahlin is going nowhere.

When you look at how the Florida Panthers played this year, how they played last year, how they played in their President's Trophy, how they played in their Stanley Cup Final against Vegas, like, what jumps out to you as an ex-player right away?

They're, they're the closest to an old school team as you're gonna get in this, this era.

You know? Really talented, good goaltending, great coaching, obviously built strong with management.

I've known Billy Zeto since I've been 20 years old when he was a, a, an agent for Doug McDonald, my first roommate.

Very intelligent guy.

But when you look at the Florida Panthers and the way that they're constructed, uh, they got some skill, but th- this is an old school...... nasty team.

Along the walls, in the corners, chipping pucks out, chipping pucks in.

This is just throwing it around.

What changes, Matthew Barnaby? What changes?

Well, y- y- you go after anyone without taking a suspension.
