What can you tell us about it?

You know, it's a thriller and it's a dystopian novel.

And it's also a murder mystery.

So I've been calling it a dystopian murder mystery thriller.

So it's set 20 years from now.

I used to say it was set 30 years from now.

But after a year of Trump and the way things are going, I'm now saying it's set 20 years from now.

it sounds like an isolating experience to write to write a novel and to be kind of not have I mean you have a group but it must be a little different for you to not have so many people tell you what's wrong with it along the way as you do in TV and in plays but was that an adjustment for you to get used to you telling your story was it with 51% was it different was that a freeing feeling you felt like you could kind of spread your wings

[laughs] Oh my gosh.

And so, and so I thought about student loans, you know, all night long, and by the morning, I had this world, um...

You know, the name of the book is 51%, and it's based on the idea that, uh, uh, that there are...

If you wanna go to college in this world or you wanna go to high school, there's no pri- public colleges.

There's no public high schools.

So everything is private, so if you wanna go, you're gonna have to pay your own way, and lots of times you're not gonna have the money for it.

So you get a loan to go to high school and college, and what this, what it is, it's an income share agreement, where you agree the corporation is gonna pay for your high school, pay for your college, but you're gonna have to pay them X percent of your money for the next t- your salary for the next 10 years.

Ah.

I'm interested in this.

Yeah.

I mean, one thing that happens in this world is that, you know, everything is privatized.

Just about everything is privatized.

So parks are privatized.

Roads are privatized.

If you want to drive down a road, a private corporation is paying for the upkeep of that road.

Did you have a purpose and something you wanted the reader to pick up?

So have you done things like that, or did you, do you know people who've done it, or you just sort of mapped it out in your head?

Uh, mostly mapped it out in my head.

I mean, I've, I've produced a lot of TV shows, so I'm certainly experienced at, uh, producing and writing, uh, hour-long shows.

And to create a, y- you know, a two-minute advertising video, um, I just, [laughs] I, I just made that up.

But it was a lot of fun to do.

I mean, just all the questions.

Y- y- you know, you, you show this, uh, this, y- you know, this dead girl on, on the street, dead young woman on the street who has, who has been murdered.
