We, we're gonna find out who it is and who made the stuff up.
78:27
They'll be annoyed at themselves.
78:28
They are annoyed at themselves.
78:30
And the old, you know, winners, the team, loses the team is, is real in that scenario.
78:34
But they'll be annoyed because it's a human error.
78:37
It's a calculation mistake, and it's something that shouldn't happen, you know.
78:41
It...
80:51
You know, the, the theory behind what they're doing, the way the drivers have to brake before corners, all was on display over the weekend.
2:41
And is it
2:42
speed? Is it courage? Is it luck? Is it experience? You know, is it the mystical, magical methods of Peter Brock? Well, Brocky wouldn't have won that yesterday because you cannot win Bathurst.
2:54
You cannot drive the distance, as you and I both know, as everyone knows, in a car if you don't have fuel.
3:00
And at the end of the day, the simple equation was they didn't have enough.
3:04
So...
3:05
the complex part that they'll go away and find out is why didn't they have enough? And I scratched my head when they pulled in and filled up in a quick burst.
3:15
The thing about it for me is, Pete, that they didn't need to go back out that quickly.
4:23
And that really does show people just, as you mentioned, how difficult it is to drive 1,000 kilometres, what the team needs to do, you know, the theory behind what they're doing, the way the drivers have to brake before corners, all was on display over the weekend.
82:42
[laughs]
82:43
And at the top of the mountain... [laughs] Yeah, I know, it sounds crazy.
82:46
But at the top of the mountain that weekend, in one of the sessions, he, he lost control of the car and he actually did like a full 360 up at Skyline, got it back together and kept going.
82:59
And any other driver would lose their mind over that.
83:02
This young kid came cruising back into pit lane, and I bumped into him just a couple of minutes later and he was looking on his phone, one of his mates at the top of the mountain had sent him video of it.
83:13
And I just watched this guy being n- so nonchalant about it, you know.
83:17
And I said to him, "Mate, you could've killed yourself there." And he's like, "Oh, yeah, it was pretty wild, wasn't it?" And I went, "Okay, here's a guy [laughs] here's a guy who's not crazy.
84:42
... and of course, uh, stepped away last year, so that'd be great if, uh, he were to salute as the co-driver there.
3:50
[laughs]
3:50
And at the top of the mountain... [laughs] Yeah, I know, it sounds crazy.
3:53
But at the top of the mountain that weekend, in one of the sessions, he, he lost control of the car, and he actually did, like, a full 360 up at Skyline.
4:03
Got it back together and kept going, and any other driver would lose their mind over that.
4:09
This young kid came cruising back into pit lane, and I bumped into him just a couple of minutes later, and he was looking on his phone, one of his mates at the top of the mountain had sent him video of it.
4:20
And I just watched this guy be no- so nonchalant about it, you know.
4:24
And I said to him, "Mate, you could've killed yourself there." And he's like, "Oh, yeah, it was pretty wild, wasn't it?" And I went, "Okay, here's a guy [laughs] here's a guy who's a crazy, a bit young, but he gets Bathurst." And Cam's been knocking on that, that Mount Panorama door so many times.
5:50
... of course, uh, stepped away last year, so that'd be great if, uh, he were to salute as the co-driver there.
32:07
Yeah
32:07
... across one weekend a year, and everybody's trying to work out what the magic potion is to get it.
32:13
I've spent, you know, uh, near on three decades, um, speaking to drivers, young, old, international, those that have never seen it before, those that have been there plenty of times, those that have won heaps of times, and those that'll never win it, and I've, I've constantly asked the same question: What makes Bathurst so special? Why is this such a special race? And you get 100 different answers off 100 different guys.
32:37
You know, some will talk to you about the luck.
32:39
Some will talk to you about the strategy.
32:41
Some will talk to you about the courage.
32:42
Others will talk to you about the mountain choosing you on that certain day.
33:21
[laughs]
