Matt Stringer

37:15
Well, man, where's the engineer Springer, man?
37:19
So, they're like two kids, but, I mean, they're really good guys to work with, right? So, they're going to prank...
37:30
At our station, we have two engineers.
37:33
So...
37:34
One of them, my engineer was off.
37:36
Other engineer was off.
37:37
And they were going to prank him.

55:41
Where are you seeing 10 years, Matt?
JuanHOST
26:38
Um, how do you approach that, um, in IMAC? Do you trim for a hands-off, uh, when the plane is upright? Do you try to get that same behavior on upright and inverted? How do you, how do you go about it?
26:50
Hmm, I mean, you want it to basically fly level flight for the most part when you're on the throttle.
26:56
Now, FAI planes are a little bit more sensitive 'cause they're so, like, symmetric and neutral, whereas a IMAC plane, I kinda compare it between, like, something like supercross, motocross versus, like, MotoGP.
27:10
A pattern plane's gonna be like a MotoGP bike.
27:13
You're on literally the same surface every time.
27:16
You, you notice a lot smaller nuances in the plane than, like, a IMAC plane.
27:21
A IMAC plane's kinda, it's moving around a little bit more.

JuanHOST
43:20
Can you explain what that is and what you're up to these days with that?
0:21
In this last episode, I opened the question by talking to Matt about what he, Matt, at the Education Showroom and his team can be doing to support schools in such a meaningful way as they do every day.
0:34
attention to detail.
0:35
That is what this organization, the Education Share Room is fundamentally based upon is a school or multi-academy trust leader will contact us on a minute by minute basis.
0:50
And the very, very first thing that we do individually and collectively as a team is we listen and we learn and we ask correct questions to ascertain what the ideal solution would look like, how much money a school or Matt potentially has to invest in a solution.
1:14
What's the timeframe? Have they tried any solutions in the past that hasn't quite worked for them and to learn why they didn't work for them or to learn if it did work for them to spend a lot of time looking at the detail and asking the right questions.
1:30
And I think that is the key to our business.
1:32
I really do.
5:17
If they're looking for something, What piece of advice for school leaders and providers right now, what would it be? What piece of advice would you give?
0:21
And in this episode, I started off by asking Matt all about funding streams and how schools were able to sustain this to acquire quality resources.
0:30
Yeah, that's a great question.
0:32
I think schools and multi-academy trusts are more informed than they have been in many, many years about what grants, what monies, what funding is available to them.
0:45
And a conversation with me will be, we have a pocket of money.
0:50
We can get access to a pocket of money.
0:53
We've been given a pocket of money.
0:54
We have applied for this particular grant.
4:31
How do you think, then, these strong, effective partnerships between these providers and the schools that you're talking about, first of all, could be built, because obviously there takes an element of collaboration there, but also then maintained over the long term?
0:21
Andrew Tiswell, my co-host, of course, was just asking Matt, what are the budget pressures that schools are facing and how they're using their budgets and prioritising their budgets in the current climate?
0:32
That's a really, really great point, actually.
0:35
I'm going to answer your question slightly differently, Andrew, if I may.
0:39
I'm not a politician.
0:40
I just want to approach it ever so slightly differently.
0:44
One of the things that genuinely inspires me and makes me incredibly motivated to start work every morning is when I have really, really interesting conversations with Matt and in school leaders about efficiencies in their school or mat and a really great example was last Tuesday or Wednesday I was kindly invited to go and visit a mat in the Leicestershire area sat down there was the chief exec CFO COO director of send for the trust And I was absolutely inspired and I'm going to say delighted, although that may not be the right word, but of how schools and maths are evolving and at the top level, genuinely developing a thought process like an organization, like a business, like industry.
1:40
is where I'm going to answer your question.

12 MINS LATER

13:40
And that's why that communication between the schools themselves and those, for example, as an ed tech provider and particularly, of course, if you as that kind of conduit between those two sides need to have those conversations to see how that world is evolving all of the time.
0:57
But first of all, Matt, I wonder if you'd mind giving our listeners a little bit of background to what you do, your kind of company, and how you got there in the first place.
1:06
Yeah, thank you, Ian.
1:07
So, yeah, I'm Matt Stringer.
1:09
I'm the Chief Exec of the Education Showroom.
1:12
And in a nutshell, the Education Showroom exists to help school and multi-academy trust leaders to to find specific products, services, solutions that they need and want and require, but to do it in an incredibly slick, quick online way.
1:34
So, for example, a map leader will contact us by email or call some that we have an amazing relationship with text or WhatsApp.
1:43
and they will explain to us a specific area that they are looking to improve innovate within their school or math for example they're looking for a different type of maths edtech solution or it could be literacy it could be an scnd requirement they may be looking for an eco building for a special brand new scnd requirement they may be looking to see what grants are available even down to EV charges in a car park.
5:05
I mean, what are school leaders looking for currently, Matt, from digital resources in their classrooms and across their schools?
