What's one of your favourite ways to get past that fear?
15:20
I think the thing that I go to most frequently is drawing because I'm an author and an illustrator.
15:26
I illustrate my own books.
15:28
When I visit schools and I'm speaking to students, I'll often ask kind of raise your hand if you'd like to write and raise your hand if you'd like to draw.
15:38
And almost universally, there are more hands for drawing.
15:41
especially early on in primary school the older you get it changes because kids have lost their confidence and so they don't like to say they draw because they don't think they draw well because their confidence in their drawing got knocked at some point and so they've kind of they've spooked and now they don't draw anymore but early on their confidence is there and drawing is more comfortable drawing is faster it's more you get a kind of you get a reward more quickly when you draw And so I'll often, again, kind of trying to break the process apart a little bit.

We can learn.

Do you think it can actually be taught or do you think it's something that children either have or don't have?
