And so I d- I just happened to run across a video on YouTube, it was by David Brandt, and he talked about the crabbed beetle.

Matt BurkholderGUEST
So I went out in my field, I'm scouting, you know, looking around, and I identified a couple of the crabbed beetles, um, which I think they're hard to find because they're really fast.

Matt BurkholderGUEST
Um, but I, I thought, "Well, that's pretty cool." You know, I was encouraged to find that.

Matt BurkholderGUEST
And long story short, between the crabbed beetle, and we got some sunshine, nature won.

Uh, did you start off planting green, or did you start off killing off the cover crop, terminating it before you planted? What, what did that look like in your situation?

We're trying to track that with some different soil health testing and partnering s- with other local companies.

Matt BurkholderGUEST
I have noticed on one field in particular, back when I was doing full tillage, there used to be three wet spots in that farm, and we would always have to farm around those.

Matt BurkholderGUEST
After m- not exactly sure, maybe three or four years of cover crops and no-till, I noticed those spots start to shrink, and then now, today, you know, we can plant through those areas and plant the whole farm at the same time.

Matt BurkholderGUEST
You know, those areas are still wet, but I can plant the whole farm at the same time.

Matt BurkholderGUEST
So we're noticing increased water infiltration, um, you know, better nutrient cycling, better weed suppression because of the cover crops and, you know, on and on, so.

What barriers are still preventing some farmers from adopting no-till practices?
