Um, and then increasingly in the 2000s with the creation of these film schools, with the creation of film festivals, and Mansky is a key figure here, with the creation of Art Doc Fest, you start getting many more figures, um, and again, this kind of formal experimentation which, Sam, as you pointed out, is so reminiscent of the 1920s.

Um, and if we really think about the 1920s moment, I think that what our period shares with the 1920s, um, is this belief that nonfiction cinema is politically consequential, that it's really important, experimentation with form and the idea that form can be political, attention to everyday life, um, and also the idea that cinema can reshape public consciousness.
