issues related to climate change in pregnancy, with wildfire smoke, we also see an increased risk of preterm birth.
3:19
With floods, again, we see a risk of low birth weight, and then even morbidity and mortality in babies who are born during or after floods.
3:30
So there are lots of ways that we can see climate change sort of directly impacting pregnancy.
3:37
And when we think about how climate change and fossil fuels and petrochemicals and plastics are related, it's sort of bi-directional or multi-directional for all of these things.
3:51
So if we start with petrochemicals, we think of petroleum as being used for fuel and burning that fuel is driving climate change by increasing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
4:06
But those same chemicals can also be turned into plastics and various chemicals that are used for manipulating the physical properties of plastics.

Um, and what I'd like to talk about, uh, in, in this brief session this evening is really how climate change and petrochemicals impact reproduction and pregnancy.
0:30
And so it's really gonna sort of be a bit of a whirlwind tour, but I'm gonna start with the science, how climate change impacts reproduction, and then a little bit on how climate change and chemicals intersect.
0:42
And then we'll delve into the concept of endocrine disruption on reproduction, because understanding that concept is important to understand why there are certain chemicals that we worry about exposure to.
0:54
And then I hopefully will spend a little bit more time going over some practical tips to reduce exposure to toxic chemicals and promoting resilience to climate change.
1:05
So starting with the basics.

Dr. Zlotnick, I have a question about, could you speak to any known associations between the cumulative environmental exposures that a woman experiences over decades and the diseases we commonly see later in life, like reproductive cancers, breast and gynecologic, or even cardiac disease or neurodegenerative disease? What do we know about
