So when you sit down with your staff, when you decide where to send people, when to send people, what are you really optimizing for in that moment?

Yeah, I think it's interesting that this is the topic that we're talking about today because I feel like I've spent a lot of time this last year thinking about the way in which we do admission and are we, as I said earlier, are we thinking about centering the student in it? Are we meeting students and parents where they're at? But the beautiful thing about travel is it is that opportunity to have that real IRL human to human connection.

And so when we talk about what does it mean to get the most out of a work trip or a travel trip, it's how do we make the most authentic connections with students and families that could be a good fit for our institution? So, just like everyone else, we do have a fair slate of college fairs, but to really tell the Austin College story and get to know students in a holistic way and the way that we practice admission here at Austin College, I really do challenge my team to think about how do we have opportunities for students to really learn the Austin College story that's going to matter to them? How do we answer their questions? And so I think that's really challenging in this time too.

Students are maybe a little bit more hesitant than my generation was at setting up admission interviews or one-on-one appointments, talking to someone they've never met before.

But we really try to think about how do we build those relationships with that student, with that applicant, and then how do we take it a step further? How do we talk to those that will also be influencing their decision? So student appointments are a great opportunity to engage the parents school visits are an incredible opportunity when we have the chance to work with the high school counseling office but also you know do we have connections we can make with their engineering department to talk about our engineering program or their ib curriculum coordinators um opportunities to talk to those who may already understand a little bit about you know why liberal arts and then make that connection about why austin college

But the question we're asking here, you know, at the end of every episode is, you know, what is one thing that we overrate and one is one thing that we underestimate? And as it pertains to travel, how would you answer that question?

Oh, that's a big one.

Well, I will say, I think it's less about volume and more about quality when it comes even to travel.
