Who are the biography's key protagonists, and what's their role in the story?

One of them I've mentioned already is Charles Mountford, and as the leader of the expedition, he, uh, can only be a protagonist.

Mountford was a interesting character, self-taught ethnologist.

By personality, he was quite a withdrawn man, a loner, rather paranoid and not very stable mentally.

Like a, a number of anthropologists or anthropologically minded people, as I've discovered, it's often a bit of an outsider, someone who's an outsider in their own society who ends up going looking for meaning in somebody else's society.

I think that describes him well.

He was supremely gifted with the camera, a classic kind of black and white photographer, and then color film came in, and he took to that like a duck to water.

Please read the passages describing these sensitivities and how you reconciled them.
