That business has changed quite a bit, hasn't it?
16:52
Yeah.
16:53
We found, um, uh...
16:55
So DevOps, for folks that don't know, it's, it's, um, developer and operations.
17:00
You know, it's basically, um, moving with a lot more velocity, coding a lot faster, um, you know, working faster by being closer to your customer and, and getting things out quicker.
17:11
So GitHub deploys, you know, hundreds of times a day.
17:14
And whereas in the old days, like, um, you know, you used to deploy once every two years or something like that, you know, if you're building Windows operating systems.

20 MINS LATER

37:09
Mm-hmm
16:49
That business has changed quite a bit, hasn't it?
16:52
Yeah.

Mm-hmm
8:46
Where are they going? They're going to GitHub.
8:48
Yeah.
8:49
Yeah.
8:50
The, um, this then...
8:51
And it's really the GitHub's kind of become this sort of, um...
8:55
So we...
8:56
The agentic coding kind of started with Copilot, and we kind of proved out...

The agentic coding kind of started with Copilot, and we kind of proved out.

8 MINS LATER

16:49
That business has changed quite a bit, hasn't it?
17:42
... of the instructions, and then there's the super-duper backup.
17:46
backup.Yeah, exactly.
17:48
So we, we use what's called a, a locks philosophy, so lots of copies keep stuff safe, you know? You have a copy on your machine, you share it with us, now GitHub has a copy.
17:58
But we thought, "Well, that's not good enough, you know, we need to do better than this." So we have lots of archives everywhere.
18:04
And then we worked with, um, a set of experts on how can we archive the world's open source software? How can we take snapshots of that and put it somewhere safe? So we have a copy of, like, the most popular open source software.
18:20
We have that in the Bodleian Library, in Alexandra Bibliotheca, in Stanford Library in, in like a, in like a pretty box, 'cause it turns out humanity values pretty things, so that in 100, 1,000 years' time somebody would see that and think, "Ooh, this must have value.
18:36
What is it?" With the Arctic Code Vault, what we did was we took all of the open source software in the world that's on GitHub, and we put it onto essentially film, and then we, we buried it in a coal mine, in an abandoned coal mine in Svalbard, which is sort of round the corner from where the Arctic Sea Vault is and things like that.
19:33
What, what language is it in?
