Martin CorenGUEST
So, you know, this The Money Lender's Daughter is a rare play of mine that did not go through a great deal, if any.

Martin CorenGUEST
Well, it did go through some revisions, but only after it had been accepted at Six Points Theatre.

Martin CorenGUEST
The play had previously received a stage reading at the 2017 Festival of New Plays at Jewish Ensemble Theaters just outside of Detroit, Michigan.

Martin CorenGUEST
The play won first prize there and gave me confidence to submit it to other theaters.

Martin CorenGUEST
It was accepted by Six Points Theatre, and then I ended up working with Barbara Brooks, the artistic director, Robert Dorfman, the literary manager, and they brought in Joe Dowling, who is a former artistic director of the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, and then also the Abbey Theatre in Dublin.

Martin CorenGUEST
and um we had a basically a one hour zoom session where joe spoke truthfully and eloquently about the play and what needed to change i found that absolutely important for this play in my development in general and then following that even as the play was in rehearsals uh i worked back and forth with robert dorfman um to develop it further.

Could you talk about what was that experience like for you? And did you learn anything new about your play from seeing it performed? Martin, what about you?
