So your brain is kind of giving you a report that says you're kicking off the covers, you're uncomfortable, and you have to kind of look to your mattress to figure out what's right and what's wrong.

how old it is, your body has changed, maybe it's time for a new mattress and getting some of the newer technologies.

I guess the key is to have the whole kit and caboodle, as my dad would once say.

Why does summer make mattress problems so much worse? Tell us about this.

Well, first of all, good morning, and thank you for, uh, having GhostBed.

Well, y- people sleep, heat up.

Uh, the summer is hotter, and your mattress is kind of like, uh, your report card.

You're, you're finding out that you're too warm, and when you're warm, you're kicking off the covers and you're uncomfortable.

And if you're doing that, you're not sleeping.

And if you're not sleeping, you're not getting well-rested and you're not gonna be your best person the next day.

Not really.

Sure.

So I had these three neck surgeries.

I couldn't find a pillow or a mattress that worked for my neck pains and my back problems.

Given that I was my dad's little lab assistant when he was inventing fiberglass, I had a great polymer background for what we call structural polymers, and the same chemistry basically goes into a comfort polymer, the pillow, the mattress, et cetera.

I came up with the idea with my wife, let's start this memory foam mattress pillow company.

Vac-pack the mattresses into a small box so it's easier to ship, 'cause I was used to shipping ladders, which takes up a lot of air in a truck.

You know, McDonald's spoiled everyone with instant gratification with the drive-through, and then Amazon just topped it off with two-hour delivery.

Tell us about that a little bit.

Well, my grandfather was a military guy, lieutenant colonel in World War I and II, started the Warner Company over 100 years ago.

And back then it was probably equivalent of a lemonade stand.

It was just making money to feed his 11 brothers and sisters.

And then when my dad came along, he invented for my grandpa the aluminum ladder and then the fiberglass ladder.

And he invented the alloys and the fiberglass and then the machines to make it.

So that kind of pioneered the Werner company.

It is in your blood, isn't it?

Where did this come from? Because I think it's spectacular.

Well, I'm glad it's really working for you as it works for so many people.

It came from me from a personal situation where I've had three neck surgeries from being an athletic guy.

And I couldn't find a pillow or a mattress that worked for me.

So I did what I did.

learned to do my whole life is invent something.

So I invented first the pillow and then the mattress.

Yes, 25 years ago, I've had three neck surgeries.

I've got all this metal in my neck, and I couldn't find a pillow or a mattress that worked for my conditions.

And having grown up in the Werner ladder family is very lucky for that.

So I was his little understudy with fiberglass.

So what's going on there? Why is that happening?

So tell me, you are, I guess, a serial entrepreneur, right? You come up with this idea, how did this all unfold for Ghostbed?

Well, I did start at Werner Ladder.

My grandfather started that a hundred years ago.

My dad invented the aluminum and the fiberglass ladder.

So I had a lot of training from that.

And then I've had three neck surgeries over a period of years.

So after the Werner company, I wanted to start a family business with my wife and kids in America.

What do you say to those folks?

You said, I have a problem that I have to solve, right?

I actually came from Werner Ladder Company.

I was blessed to be born into that family, the inventor of the aluminum and fiberglass ladder that was used to cut down the nets last night at the basketball game.

So I've had three neck injuries and lots of metal, lots of fusion, lots of pain, et cetera.

And I couldn't find a mattress or a pillow that worked for my situation.

So given my background with fiberglass and polymers, I invented my own and I started a American business with my wife and then my kids as GhostBet.

And we have different types of models, but that was my solution.

of your health, right?

I'm 61 years old, and so I get up a little slower in the morning, but for someone that's waking up with aches and pains every morning, how much of that could actually be the mattress and not necessarily the age or any of that other stuff?

Well, it's definitely the mattress, but it's also both.

As you get older, which I'm older, there's new pains you encounter all the time, and that's going to be a problem.

But what you do find is that the mattress is not the right sleep solution platform for the person.

It can be 65, it can be 25.

For example, my 95 year old, God bless him, my father, who's doing great, he gets up every 45 minutes to pee, which is normal for an older man.

When it comes to the ghost bed, what do you want people to know about it? Why should people switch?

How did you have the chutzpah to go into this and take the chance on it?

Tell me about that.

Well, a little background.

I come from the Werner Ladder family.

My grandfather started that over 100 years ago.

My dad's a guy who invented the aluminum ladder and the fiberglass ladder.

So I grew up in that type of an environment.

Branded, high-quality, U.S.-made products.

How do we fix that issue?

You really put the health into the thought of the design of this, didn't you?

A tremendous amount.

You know, I come from originally Warner Ladder, which was started by my grandfather 100 years ago.

So I was raised in a highly engineered environment where my dad invented the aluminum ladder and the alloy to make it and fiberglass ladder.

So I learned all that kind of stuff through the years.

And then 25 years ago, I ended up starting Ghostbed with my wife as a family business.

But the real reason I started it was because i've had three neck surgeries and i couldn't find a mattress or a pillow or anything that worked for my situation i was always in pain so from my engineering experience and life experience at werner i invented my own and that kind of started ghost bed and that's been a great change and since then we have lots of patents we've invented cooling technologies which I believe in your mattress, you've got the cooling technology.

How did you achieve that temperature change? Because I think that that's the first thing I noticed when I slept the first night on the mattress.
