and

ask for feedback.
13:37
And I find very few leaders really do this because it's tough, you're vulnerable, it's risky, and you gotta learn to take it.
13:47
And so I encourage people, check in constantly with your team.
13:52
Couple of little phrases.
13:54
How'd I do? How'd you see me show up? Is there anything I could do? How could I be even more powerful for you? So what we do within Ground Force is after almost every meeting, I'll get out of a meeting, and I'm in with a 25-year-old, I'm with my partner, whoever it is, and just check in.
14:16
Any feedback from me? And we've done it enough, but it takes time for people to know you really want to hear it.

28:43
think from
12:48
I guess just kind of a quick executive summary of the book and who this is for.
12:54
Look, it says it's for entrepreneurs, which is true, but it's really for anybody in leadership at all.
13:00
The reason I wrote the book and the big realization that I had is I bought into a myth as an entrepreneur.
13:07
Have a big idea, work really hard, do whatever it takes, you know, five... years 10 years whatever make a pile money and then i'll be free then i won like like life is good i'm off to the race you know the rest of the life i'm gonna coast it's perfect well i did that right i built the business grew it grinded away sold the coca-cola had millions in the bank beautiful beach house never had to work again And I found myself not really feeling free, feeling trapped by the same things that held me back all along the way.
13:38
The fears, the insecurities, the stories, the comparison.
13:42
And I decided, man, there's gotta be a different way.
13:45
And when I started to talk to more and more entrepreneurs, I would tell them things like, oh yeah, I pretty much buried all my emotion for nine years.
15:43
But I'd love your take on the story.
1:13
Uh, Mark, uh, tell our listeners a little bit about who you are, a bit about your story, and we'll get into some questions.
1:18
Sure, yeah.
1:19
You know, it's always funny to, to hear that said and then reflect on my life a little bit.
1:24
But I'll...
1:25
You know, the story, the way I- I'm gonna choose to tell it now is, you know, my, my career's been an...
1:30
I've had an amazing career, and, and I just feel so blessed, and it started off the dirt path as a, as a Peace Corps volunteer in Central America.
1:39
And, you know, that's where I first discovered coconut water but never thought about it.

9 MINS LATER

10:58
Mm.
4:17
What were some of those unexpected hurdles and what'd you learn overcoming them?
4:21
Yeah, oh boy, so many.
4:23
Great question.
4:24
Look, a couple that come to mind.
4:26
First of all, early on, I was amazed how many people hated the taste of coconut water.
4:31
It was just an acquired taste.
4:33
And so we learned very quickly to preach to the choir.
9:13
Yeah.
