James PozziHOST
Um, what were some of the, I guess, the dominant themes and overall mood at the recent events, um, you attended?

Mark PillingGUEST
Yeah, in fact, it was last week, James, in Kenya, in Nairobi, at the Sarit Centre there.

Mark PillingGUEST
Over 3,000 delegates, so, you know, um, in fact, the event was quite a reflection of Africa's, um, air transport market, which is, according to IATA numbers anyway, i- in spite of obviously the, the Middle East crisis, actually growing quite fast, one of the fastest-growing markets in terms of passenger traffic in the world.

Mark PillingGUEST
Now, Africa is gonna trouble-- double in passenger numbers, you know, IATA and Boeing are saying this, by 2045, so there's gonna...

Mark PillingGUEST
the fleet is going to grow, and of course, MRO, which is what we're particularly interested in here, demand, is going to grow too.

Mark PillingGUEST
Africa talks about potential, it talks about ambition, it talks about op- op- opportunity, um, it is hurting like everybody.

James PozziHOST
But how would you describe the current environment of Africa's aviation industry in 2025?

Mark PillingGUEST
Yeah, Africa as a whole, yes, is definitely growing, along with the rest of the industry.

Mark PillingGUEST
IATA's forecasting 8% RPK growth this year, just a little bit less ASK growth, so load factors will improve.

Mark PillingGUEST
Africa this year, according to IATA, about $100 million, which sounds pretty pathetic in global terms, but at least it's a profit.

James PozziHOST
Will we see a big fleet modernization plan? going forward in Africa in comparison to maybe other regions?
