Can you share an example of a time when you moved from order taker to someone who had influence over a business decision or a project, an initiative, an organizational outcome, something like that?

Mark NillesGUEST
So to do this, I've got a couple of examples in mind, but I think we'll focus on one, and unfortunately, I need to take us back about five years when we were sort of in that pandemic, the early days of the pandemic, right? So the, uh, organization that I was working with, our client, had been doing all in-person trainings up until then.

Mark NillesGUEST
It was a three-day in-person course that really touched on what every unit in the organization did, talking about basic concepts, basic terminology, frameworks, that sort of thing, to get new hires or people who were in new roles acclimated to what the organization did and how they did it, but again, at the foundational level.

Mark NillesGUEST
They offered this course before COVID twice a year to up to 25 people in Washington, DC.

So what do you think keeps people stuck in this order taker role, and how do we move out of that? What is that mistake that people are making over and over again that keeps us stuck where we are?
