Explain a little bit more about what's in the pictures.

Well, to give you a bit more context to that, when the full scale invasion happened, I was with my wife in Kiev and along with millions of others, we crossed the border on foot to Poland.

But I really couldn't stay away.

Every part of me was telling me that I had to return to help Ukraine the best way I knew how.

And that meant weaponizing my practice as an artist and extending it in the strongest way I could think of.

So it was trying to create a charity that combined humanitarian aid deliveries with my work as a photographer.

So I got back to Kiev days later in an aid van.

And that must be quite difficult to document.

Tell us briefly what this means for you now to open this exhibit.

It's extremely emotional.

I mean, I've been living along with Andriy in Ukraine for the past five years and dealing with the impact of these now daily explosions.

And it's very strange, but your nervous system actually becomes used to it.

So in a weird way, I have an advantage over people in the West who I'm sure the war is going to come to the West in a more direct way.

I'm very sad to say, but I think it will.

And you'll have to get used to war in this sense as well, I think, as Ukrainians are doing.

Tell us what happened next Mark.

No, they didn't.

No, I felt hurt, too, because they didn't believe my story about your cancer.

I was really hurt by that, but I didn't know that that was bullshit, too.
