We don't know how to administer it, for example, because even some people are not sure how to give injection in a bird for an example there um so yeah that would be really really good now you've mentioned a few times that birds that come in are often already dehydrated and you've also mentioned just then with the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory so meloxicam that you'd want them to be sort of normovolemic and not sort of super dehydrated so how how would we hydrate that bird you know what's what's the options available for us there and i you know there's different different size ranges and different ways we might administer those Fluids presumably as well.

Yes, yeah, absolutely.

And again, as you said, if in doubt, you know, as a general rule, avian and exotics vets are a friendly bunch and we like it when people are interested in our really cool burs and we're very happy to speak to people.
29:14
You know, at Battle Flats where I work, we have three advanced practitioners in exotics.
29:21
Both of my colleagues, Gem and Hannah, have a huge interest.
29:24
We field phone calls every single day from other vets.
29:27
Our nursing team, we have a huge number of nurses that have um, exotics qualifications and they give advice out to other, other veterinary colleagues as well.

Those bigger birds where the collimation wouldn't even go that far, then sandbags are... definitely fantastic they do say don't they what's that i don't know if it is an old wives tale they say that swans can kill you with the wings but yeah i don't think that's necessarily true but they are absolutely very strong animals so don't be surprised if you do need to have a little bit of um you know sandbags there so say if we need to go for um anesthesia then so the next step is is that we we can do that what what considerations are there for anesthesia of birds
