So, General, how many people reported up in you through all the services when you were head of Joint Chiefs of Staff?

Yeah, so there's probably a little misconceptions about the chairman.

Chairman's not a commander.

So your direct reports are your staff, your immediate staff, the joint staff.

And the chairman actually doesn't have any authority over the military.

You're the top military guy, but your job is to advise the president, the president's commander in chief, and to advise the secretary of defense.

And those are the two decision makers.

And so what do you see on the go forward in being able to have a workforce and an army, pilots, and to continue to build that kind of diversity?
