Tell us about some of the seminal moments of the, the Argentine national team's history through this period.

So I guess the golden period of this style of football, as it's known, would be 1940s when under coach Guillermo Stábile, they won every- or every South American championship during the 1940s bar one, playing amazing football.

The likes of, um, José Manuel Moreno was probably a bit of a Gazza-type character, liked a drink, liked the nightlife, but would turn up and absolutely demolish the opposition next day.

And also, a lot of the members of that side were from the River Plate La Máquina side, which so dominated domestic football, um, during that decade too.
23:35
Um, Boca Juniors and San Lorenzo also had amazing sides during that period.
23:41
Um, so you, you see the real high point of Argentine football probably during the 1940s.
23:46
Um, that comes to a massive halt in 1948 when the players go on strike over freedom of contract and other economic demands about the maximum wage, et cetera, and that really impacts on Argentina's national progress.
