Mark Hennin with Biederman Redevelopment Ventures manages the Union Square Plaza program, featuring events and activities that now fill the square.

I feel that before this program took off, it was more just an empty plaza that people walked through.

So now we really give people something to pause and linger in.

and to enjoy.

We also try to appeal to a wide variety of audiences.

So we have children's programming, which at first there was a lot of doubt that we could even get kids out here.

And that's actually proven to be very successful.

And as is the case with Downtown First Thursdays, Muni makes getting to Union Square very easy.
