What were you doing on October 1st, 2017 that, that led you to go to this event?

Yeah, so on October 1st, 2017, I was working for Rolling Stone.

I was covering, um, the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

And on the final day, the third day of the three-day festival, the final act also, Jason Aldean, country singer, was on stage.

Now, I was there initially supposed to write about the 10 best things I saw this weekend at the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

Can you share some of the stories that stood out to you?

Sure.

Yeah.

So the first one I think about is a guy named Tommy Maher.

Now, Tommy is from New York.

He still lives there to this day.

He's a fire commissioner out there.

Wow, no way.

You heard the shots?

Yeah, in fact, so I was right there.

I was standing on the west side of the venue, probably about 25 yards or so from the stage.

I had a very, very close friend of mine was one of the – he works for a big company who was one of the sponsors of the festival.

And so he had kind of a little VIP area right there, which wasn't really a whole lot.

When you think VIP, you think big, luxurious things, suites and whatnot.

And this was not that.
