What were those struggles and how did funding a pro career look like in that 90s era?
8:40
Yeah, it was definitely a struggle because my dad was a builder, self-employed builder, probably back then making 35, 40 grand a year.
8:49
I never felt like any of us were wanting for anything.
8:51
However, we couldn't have a lavish lifestyle.
8:56
And obviously, he couldn't put a lot of money into my tennis when I started to travel.
9:02
So it was kind of up to me to work.
9:05
I was doing a bit of part-time work with dad.

yeah i think that that's that's all we can do what would you say has changed most on the tour since when you were playing to now traveling as a coach with these guys would you say it is those narrow margins and how fine um the gaps are between the different players or is there other things
51:56
Yeah.
51:57
Um, and we had a bit of everything, you know.
52:00
You look at the three center backs, they were strength, power.
52:03
They could play as well.
52:04
The two best wing backs in the league, uh, fitted the system perfectly.
52:09
Obviously, me, Tails, and Towner complimented each other.
52:11
We'd all, we could all do a bit of everything really.
